Skargaarden Kryss

This foldable chair from Skargaarden, with matching table, was designed to grace the terrace of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo in 1975. It is a variation of the so-called safari chair. The designer, Björn Hultén, had visited Cairo as early as 1960 to see the National Museum’s collection of furniture from Tutankhamon’s tomb. The model for this chair and the source of its throne-like angular posture was a particular chair in the exhibit crafted out of ebony and decorated with ivory and gold. Björn saw a wood and fabric chair that could be folded and carried.

Kryss's folding frame is made from teak. The fabric of the chair is fitted to the back with leather straps and comes in various modern colors and fabrics. 

Kryss pairs excellently with the Korso all-teak dining table, available with or without extension leaves.
